The INN Standards Institute in Chile is the main institution responsible for managing the establishment, development, and participation in international standard research activities.

The standards in Chile include the Mercedes Benz NCH standard, which is in Spanish and mostly focuses on gas and food. There are relatively few NCH standards for electrical products, and IEC standards are often used as blueprints for electrical products. In addition, Mercosur standards, also known as NM standards, are referenced. UL standards are sometimes used as supplementary references, and the standard system is relatively complex. In addition, there are corresponding labeling requirements for the energy consumption of some household appliances.

Most electrical products are mandatory, such as plugs, coffee pots, etc., and there are currently no EMC requirements. (Please confirm with NormalTCI in a timely manner whether your product belongs to the certification category) Chile currently does not have a safety mark, so the label must indicate the country of origin, manufacturer, product information, etc. The certification system has various forms, including type certification, inspection, and factory inspection. The common certification methods for household appliances include type certification, which includes type+factory review, type certification, and inspection. Certification can be conducted through local testing or other qualification experiments. For overseas manufacturers, it is necessary to consider whether the shipment frequency is frequent. If it is only once or twice, they may choose to undergo type certification and inspection, which can save you certification fees and time. If the shipment is frequent, you can choose another way to obtain the certificate. This ensures that your goods do not need to be inspected after each batch arrives, even during frequent shipments.

Mobile phone charger requirements:

Mobile phone chargers will be required to apply for SEC safety certification starting from March 31, 2018

Chile issued the testing protocol PE N ° 8/08:2016 on December 26, 2016, and mobile phone chargers will be included in the mandatory certification scope of SEC from March 31, 2018.

The applicable testing standard is IEC60950-1:2005-12+corrigendum 1 2006-08.

The test must be conducted under the conditions of 220V – 50Hz as required by the PE. The plug must also comply with the requirements of Chile (CEI 23-50, CEI 23-34).
